



Irwin Cohen MD, MPH & TM is board certified in Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine and held boards in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Cohen graduated from the University of Rochester Medical School and completed residencies at the University of North Carolina and University of Chicago. He received his MPH & TM degree at Tulane University and completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at LSU. He then spent three years in the Peace Corps in Nigeria and established the first voluntary blood donorship service in the Eastern Region. From there he spent nine months in Yugoslavia evaluating a stroke rehabilitation program , two years in Guatemala as a volunteer physician at the Behrhorst Clinic, two years in Jamaica working with Project Hope, and two years in the U.S. Navy at Camp LeJeune, NC. He then worked 24 years at Tulane University Medical School as Professor of Pediatrics and Community Medicine where he directed the Third Year Pediatric Clerkship, transitional residency program and the international and national programs in community medicine. He was medical director and pediatrician at Lallie Kemp Hospital, and then served as physican to the school based health centers in Greensburg. He has a lovely wife, three sons, a foster daughter and six grandchildren.
